Former Briarcliff Resident Burt Erickson Passes Away at 100 Burt Erickson, 100 years young, formerly of Briarcliff Manor and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2023 at the Veteran’s Association Nursing Home in Montrose, where he received wonderful care. Burt was born on March 8, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Frances and Burton Erickson. He was the oldest of three children. He was predeceased in death by his sister Gertrude “Trudie” Hodges and his brother Jerome “Jerry” Erickson. Burt married the love of his life Rita Marie Jerome on Dec. 27, 1952. 83-Year-Old Westchester Resident To Receive Bachelor's Degree SUNY Empire State College will celebrate the class of 2021 during a virtual ceremony on Saturday, June 5, and among more than 2,500 graduates will be 83-year-old Sheldon Friedland, a Yonkers resident who says that he has now realized a “lifelong pursuit.” A former business owner and beloved family man, Friedland will join 2,761 SUNY Empire State graduates on Saturday as he adds earning a bachelor’s degree to his long list of accomplishments. Sister Frances Mary Horan, Maryknoll Sister for 75 Years Dies Sister Frances Mary Horan, missioner to Panama, died on March 1, at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, in Maryknoll.  She was born in Philadelphia on April 8, 1924, to Isabelle A. (Hart) Horan and Daniel A. Horan. She was baptized Frances Mary at St. John the Baptist Church, in Philadelphia. She had two sisters, Marie and Anna and seven brothers: Robert, William, Eugene, Daniel, James, Frances and Joseph. Her parents and all of her siblings have predeceased her.
