Route 6 Erratic Driver Was DWI, Authorities Say A 31-year-old man faces drunk driving charges after he was allegedly seen driving erratically on a busy Northern Westchester road, police said.  Peekskill resident Oscar Morocho Villa was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 18 following a traffic stop on Route 6 in Yorktown, Yorktown Police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Only A Drill: 'Active Threat' Training Held At University In Westchester With many students home for the holidays, several emergency agencies from across Westchester were able to hold active threat training on a university campus in the county.  The training exercise was held at New Rochelle's Iona University on Monday, Dec. 23, according to the Yonkers Police Department.  The "realistic simulation" allowed officers to "hone their skills and practice interagency coordination in a critical incident," the department said on social media. Broken Pipe Prompts Emergency Response At Hospital In Westchester Firefighters responded to a Westchester hospital after a broken pipe set off an alarm.  The incident happened on Monday, Dec. 23 at around 1 p.m., when a broken water pipe in the basement of St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers set off a fire alarm, according to Dobbs Ferry Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Giuliano. Work Begins On 12-Story Residential, Retail Building In Westchester Construction has begun on a 12-story building that will bring more homes and retail space to a Westchester village.  A groundbreaking ceremony was held for 146 Westchester Avenue in Port Chester on Tuesday, Dec. 17, according to developers.  Developers added that the planned development will contain 223 residential units as well as ground-level retail space.  Construction is expected to be finished by Q4 of 2026.

Man Accused Of Murdering Dog, Dismembering It In 'Disturbing' Westchester Animal Cruelty Case A 39-year-old Connecticut man is facing felony charges after allegedly dismembering a dog that he took from its owner in Westchester, authorities said. The arrest stemmed from an investigation that began on Friday, Dec. 6, when a 41-year-old New Rochelle man reported to police that his dog had been taken and killed by an acquaintance staying at his apartment, New Rochelle Police Captain J.
