Tarrytown Police Arrest Woman For DWI

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown police recently arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated after she crashed into another vehicle and fled the scene.

Police stopped Laura Manzo at Neperan Road and Altamont Ave. after receiving a call around 6:45 p.m. that there had been a two-car accident at the intersection of North Broadway and Central Ave.

Manzo consented to a blood alcohol content exam, which was positive. Police processed Manzo and then turned her over to her son.

DoubleTree Fire

Workers were staining furniture in a security utility room at the DoubleTree Hotel and sweeping the refuse into a pile. The pile later spontaneously combusted into a small fire on August 21 around 2 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire and determined it was accidental.

Indecent Exposure

A woman reported that she was jogging on a trail along Neperan Road about 100 yards from the pump station on August 20 around 8 a.m when a man exposed himself to her. The woman described the man as Hispanic, 5'6”, unshave and wearing a blue shirt and black running pants.

Police canvassed the area and found a man who fit the description, but the woman said the man was not the same person.

Raccoon Attack

An EF School student was bitten by a wild animal, possibly a raccoon on August 20 around 3:30 a.m. The student had lacerations to his left arm and right foot. He was taken to Phelps Hospital and the Westchester County Department of Health was notified.

Drug Arrest

Police arrested a man for criminal possession with an intent to sell on August 20 around 2:30 a.m. Officers were interviewing the man for a burglary case when he gave them permission to look inside his apartment on S. Washington St. for the stolen items.

Officers found numerous drug-packing materials, a digital scale and a quanity of cocaine in plain view. Police searched the man and found eight plastic twists and a folded dollar bill containing cocaine.

Money, Computer Stolen

A man reported on August 20 around 2 a.m. that someone or some people broke into his room on Washington St. by prying the lock with a kitchen knife and then stole $1,800 and his Toshiba laptop computer. The total value of the items was estimated at $2,350.

Drug Arrests

Police arrested five youths for 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on August 18 around 10:30 p.m. The youths were booked and then returned to their parents.

Violent Party Goers

Police interrupted what looked like an underage drinking party on August 18 around 2:45 a.m. On Neperan Road after a neighbor called in a noise complaint. Officers knocked on the residence's door, which was then opened by a highly intoxicated, irate man.

The man stated that he was not the homeowner and told officers to get off his property. The man refused to give his name or identification.

A second man, who was also extremely drunk, came to the doorway and began to shout and curse at the officers. The men tried to slam the door shut, but police told them they needed to cooperate. Police later found the homeonwer on vacation; he said both men had permission to be in his house.
