Sleepy Hollow Says Fill Out Post Office Surveys

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Village officials are encouraging residents to complete a survey that's being mailed to every household from the U.S. Postal Service as the Sleepy Hollow Post Office is being considered for possible closure.

“We would like people to be aware of it because it could be one of the things that really matter in terms of whether or not we're able to save our post office,” Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray said. “So I would urge everybody to fill it out, take a look at it, carefully consider the questions and to fill it out and get it back in.”

The U.S. Postal Service announced in July that the village's post office was one of several thousand on a list for possible closure. Village officials and residents were outraged by the decision and began efforts to try to save it.

Wray said the village board would be submitting a letter and petitions that they've been collecting to the U.S. Postal Service.

A public meeting with the U.S. Postal Service District Manager has also been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6:15 p.m. The meeting will take place at Village Hall above the fire house.
