Runners Give Big Check To Sleepy Hollow Program

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Rivertown Runners is hoping $5,500 can do a lot of good for Sleepy Hollow-based RSHM Life Center's after-school program.

“We appreciate all you do for the community,” Rivertown Runners founder Kristen Idalski said to the Life Center's Sister Susan Gardella.

Rivertown Runners is a running group that raises money for local organizations through racing events.

The $5,500 donation to the Life Center was raised through the Sleepy Hollow 10K, a costumed-race held in the village before Halloween. The race leads runners throughout the inter-village, Philipse Manor and Sleepy Hollow Manor

Idalski noted the race was growing exponentially.

Last year “we had close to 250 runners come here to downtown Sleepy Hollow, and this year we had about 700,” Idalski said. “I think that's a fantastic thing for our village.”
