Teen Critically Injured During Long Island Crash: Police

A 17-year-old hit by a car on Long Island while crossing the street is in critical condition, police said.

The crash happened on Sunday, March 3 in New Cassel, according to Nassau County Police.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was crossing Prospect Avenue near Kinkel Street, heading north.

As he crossed, he was struck by a 2009 Honda that was traveling west on Prospect Avenue.

Police said the teen suffered injuries to his head and chest. He was airlifted to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

A 54-year-old woman, the driver of the Honda, stayed on the scene and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
