The accident took place around 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, when an employee at Washington Memorial Park, located at 855 Canal Road in Mount Sinai, was leveling out the bottom of a grave when the grave collapsed on him, said the Suffolk County Police. Investigation Underway After Bronze Statue Stolen From Suffolk Cemetery A four-foot bronze eagle perched atop a World War II memorial was stolen from a Long Island cemetery last month, police said. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers issued an alert as they attempt to locate the person or people who stole the statue from Washington Memorial Park on Canal Road in Mount Sinai in November. Police said that the heist happened between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13. During the theft, investigators noted that the granite base the eagle sat on was damaged.
