80 Passengers Evacuated After Train Misses Hitting Car Struck On Tracks On Long Island An LIRR train missed hitting an empty vehicle stopped on the tracks but caused some 80 passengers to take a bus to their destination. The incident took place around 10:34 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, when a train out of Penn Station headed for Hempstead,  reported an automobile on the tracks near Stewart Manor, said Michael Cortez, spokesman for the MTA. Suspect On Loose After Armed Robbery At Long Island 7-Eleven A suspect is on the loose after an overnight armed robbery at a Long Island 7-Eleven. It happened around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8  in Stewart Manor, according to Nassau County Police. An unknown male suspect entered a 7-11 store located at 156 Covert Avenue and walked up to the male store clerk, police said. The suspect pulled out a black handgun and demanded money in which the victim complied, according to police.
