The incident happened at around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Greenport, at the Colonial Drug Store on Front Street, according to Southold Town Police. Officers were called about a possible break-in and found the suspect, 49-year-old Juan Lopez, of Greenport, inside. Lopez fled the scene on foot and officers arrested him a short time later. Pilot Walks Away From Small Plane Crash At Mattituck Airport An 82-year-old pilot walked away uninjured after his small plane crashed at a Long Island airport. The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, at the Mattituck Airport, according to Southold Town Police. Emergency crews arrived to find the single-engine Cessna plane with front end damage in a grassy area just off the runway. The pilot, identified as Bernard Stepnoski, of Mattituck, was the only person onboard. He was not injured, police said. The cause of the crash has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Man Who Lost Control Of Sailboat Rescued By Southold Bay Constables A man who was unable to operate his 16-foot sailboat was saved by Bay Constables when he overturned the vessel. The rescue took place on Friday, June 18, when Southold Town Police received a report of a man overboard off of Kenney's Beach, in Southold.  Police said the boat's owner Peter Stanton, age 61, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was apparently unable to properly operate his 16' sailboat when he caused it to overturn.  Stanton was then unable to swim fast enough to catch up to it causing himself to become separated from the boat, police said.
