Person Struck By Lirr Train In Brentwood A man who was on the railroad tracks was struck by a Penn Station-bound train on Long Island. The incident took place in Suffolk County around 12:55 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24 on the tracks at the Brentwood Station, MTA officials said. The individual was removed alive to an area hospital, the MTA said. MTA police are investigating the incident. This is a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Lirr Suspends Service As Rate Of Snowfall Becomes Heavier During Nor'easter The Long Island Rail Road will suspend service as the rate of snowfall during the Nor'easter has become heavier. MTA officials announced that the LIRR service will be shut down on Monday, Feb. 1 due to the storm, which is now dropping between one and three inches of snow per hour. According to MTA chairman Patrick Foye said the LIRR will operate its last trains to and from Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The incident took place around 5:52 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 31 in Suffolk County, when the 4:41 train from Southampton due at Penn Station at 7:02 a.m. struck an "authorized person" on the tracks west of Sayville, said an MTA spokesperson.
