Two Kayakers Rescued During Storm Off Fire Island Two kayakers were rescued by the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers when their kayak overturned in the Great South Bay off of Fire Island during a storm. Officers Keith Magliola and Chris DeFeo were on patrol in the Great South Bay aboard Marine Kilo when they observed a male and a female in the water next to their swamped kayak approximately a quarter-mile mile north of Ocean Bay Park on Fire Island at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, said the Suffolk County Police.
