Long Island Motorist Killed After Collision With Minivan, Crash Into Tree A Long Island motorist was killed after colliding with a minivan then crashing into a tree. It happened just before 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 in Woodmere. While traveling eastbound on Peninsula Boulevard, a 2005 Mercury Sable was in a collision with a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan near the intersection of Lafayette Drive, Nassau County Police. The collision caused the operator of the Mercury to lose control of his vehicle and strike a tree.  As a result of the collision, the operator suffered fatal injuries.
