Three Injured In Suffolk County Head-On Crash Three Long Island residents were injured during a head-on crash when one of the drivers allegedly crossed over into the other vehicle's lane.  The crash took place around 2:27 p.m., Monday, Dec. 14, on Flanders Road in Southampton, said Lt. Susan Ralph of the Southampton Police. Responding patrol units found two vehicles involved in a head-on crash and rendered aid to Edward Sorensen, 77, and Gearlyn O’Brien, 57, both of Southampton, and Jamel Mercer, 25, of Riverhead, police said. Woman Dies, 13-Year-Old Girl Rescued In Southampton Boating Accident A 65-year-old woman died after she and a 13-year-old girl fell off a tube being pulled by a boat in Southampton, police said. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Red Cedar Point near Hubbard County Park, the Southampton Town Police Department said. The young girl was pulled back onto the boat, but the older woman was unable to get back into the boat, possibly may have suffered a medical condition and became unconscious, police said.
