Released From Hospital The police officer who was seriously injured in a fatal crash with a drunk driver has been released from the hospital. Suffolk County Police Officer Christian Vidal was released from Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday, Sept. 27 around 10:30 a.m., officials say. Police say Vidal was driving northbound on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore when a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and struck his vehicle on Sunday, Sept. 1.
