Charles Carter, age 34, of Amityville, appeared in US District Court in Central Islip on Monday, Nov. 13, where he pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute over 40 grams of fentanyl. The potent, synthetic opioid drug is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suffolk Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Long Island Overdose, Police Say A 32-year-old Long Island man has been arrested in connection with a fatal overdose. Charles Carter, of Amityville, was arrested during a drug overdose investigation that occurred in Farmingdale on Friday, Feb. 5, around 11:15 pm in Farmingdale, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, an investigation into a fatal overdose of a Nassau County resident led to the arrest of Carter, who initially resisted arrest, but was eventually placed into custody.
