Suspect Nabbed For Fatal Hit-Run Port Jefferson Station Crash

Police have apprehended a suspect in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday, June 2 in Port Jefferson Station.

A man was crossing Route 112 eastbound, south of Rose Avenue, when he was struck by an unknown SUV heading southbound on Route 112 that fled the scene, Suffolk County Police said.

The man was then struck by a second southbound vehicle that remained at the scene, according to police.

The victim, identified as Peter Williams, age 47, of Terryville. was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

On Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, Suffolk County Police announced that following a months-long investigation, Coram resident Jonathan Wibben, age 34, has been apprehended in connection to the case.

Wibben has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead.
