Allegro Bar & Grille – located in West Hempstead at 157 Hempstead Avenue – opened in late September, serving up “an Italian twist on American classics,” according to its website.

A complex storm system originating in the Great Lakes and packed with wind, rain, and areas of snow will move to the East Coast.
The system is expected to arrive overnight Wednesday, Nov. 20, bringing rain at times throughout the day Thursday, Nov. 21, that will linger into Friday, Nov. 22, according to the National Weather Service.

A large-scale street takeover led to an arrest and multiple summonses on Long Island after police discovered the disturbance.
Nassau County Police said officers on routine patrol around 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, found what appeared to be an illegal vehicle rally and possible street takeover in East Garden City, near 711 Stewart Ave.
Additional units were called to assist, including the Bureau of Special Operations, Aviation Unit, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT), and Emergency Service Unit.

Long Island House Fire Leaves Family Dog Dead
A house fire on Long Island left a dog dead.
The blaze began at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 on Seaman Road in Jericho.
Responders arrived to find the home engulfed in flames from the second floor and heavy smoke throughout.
All residents made it out safely, though the family’s dog was found dead inside.
The Nassau County PD Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating.
Firefighters from Jericho, with assistance from Syosset, Hicksville, Westbury, Plainview, Bethpage, South Farmingdale, Glenwood, and Carle Place, responded and extinguished the fire.

A person died after being hit by a car overnight on a busy Long Island roadway.
It happened at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in Melville, on Broadhollow Road (Route 110), between Spagnoli Road and Ruland Road.
A 23-year-old Huntington Station man was driving a 2003 Toyota sedan northbound in the left lane when he struck the man who was crossing the road, Suffolk County Police said.
