American Airlines Mechanic Who Smuggled $250K Worth Of Cocaine On Flight Sentenced
An airplane mechanic from New York will spend nearly a decade behind bars for smuggling over 25 pounds of cocaine on an American Airlines plane. Long Island resident Paul Belloisi, age 56, of Smithtown, was sentenced to nine years in prison in Brooklyn federal court on Friday, Sept. 6, for possessing and importing cocaine. Flight From NY Makes Emergency Landing After Passenger Assaults Flight Attendant
An American Airlines flight from New York was diverted after a passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant. Flight 976 had departed New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, and was headed to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, but was diverted to Denver because of the incident, the airline said in a statement. Plane Returns To JFK After Engine Catches Fire
A plane that had just left JFK Airport quickly returned Friday after an engine caught fire, authorities said. Cancun-bound American Airlines 2681 had 165 passengers aboard had just taken off when the pilot "reported flames in an engine" on the right wing of the 737, the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo said. "They returned and landed without incident," he said.
