40-Year-Old Man Drowns While Swimming In Great Sacandaga Lake Authorities are investigating after a man drowned while swimming in a lake in the region. Emergency crews in Saratoga County were called at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, for a swimmer in distress at Great Sacandaga Lake near the town of Edinburg, according to sheriff’s officials. Investigators said the 40-year-old man was attempting to swim from shore approximately 40 yards to a waiting boat when a witness saw him go under the water and not resurface. 16-Year-Old Boy Drowns After Jumping From Waterfall In Capital Region A teenager has died after jumping from a popular waterfall in the region. The Greene County incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Fawn’s Leap, located near the hamlet of Haines Falls in the Town of Hunter. Greene County Sheriff’s officials said a group of teens, all from Brooklyn, was swimming in Kaaterskill Creek when a 16-year-old boy and a friend jumped from a ledge at the top of the falls.
