Capital Region Man Chokes Woman While Holding Infant, Making Over 1K Threatening Calls: DA
An accused rapist and animal abuser from upstate New York is now charged with choking the Long Island mother of his infant son while holding the child. Suffolk County prosecutors slapped Saratoga County resident Preston Wido, age 37, of Clifton Park, with multiple felony and misdemeanor domestic violence charges on Wednesday, April 24. According to investigators, Wido left the victim two voicemails threatening to kill her on Monday, March 11. A man from the region is facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges after trying to kill his ex-girlfriend, police said. The Columbia County incident happened Thursday night, March 14, in the city of Hudson. Hudson Police said they found the victim at around 10:30 p.m. “distressed” and covered in mud following an attack by her ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old Orlando Williams, of Hudson. A court clerk in the region has been charged with allegedly falsifying business records for "fixing" tickets for friends. Ulster County resident Haley Whalen, age 25, of Ulster Park, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 13 following an investigation by state police. A New York pilot accused of stalking a woman for years – allegedly flying over her business and mailing her disturbing images – violated a protection order again, police said. Saratoga County resident Michael Arnold, age 65, of Schuylerville, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 1 for the third time in less than a year. Four suspects have been apprehended after gunfire broke out in broad daylight near a city hall in the region. The incident happened just before 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Poughkeepsie in the area of 55 Washington St. Officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired opposite Poughkeepsie City Hall. A man from the region was arrested four times in two weeks for allegedly stalking and harassing an employee of a local bank. Sullivan County resident Jhakem Degroat, age 31, of Monticello was arrested for the fourth time in Liberty on Friday, Oct. 13, said Chief Steven D’Agata of the Liberty Police.
