Federal, county, and city officials celebrated the grand opening of a new four-story affordable housing building in Westchester that boasts energy-saving features. More than a quarter billion dollars in federal and state funding will go toward addressing New York’s housing crisis. Construction Begins On $60M Affordable Housing Development In Westchester Near Train Station
Work has begun on an all-new $60 million development that will include numerous affordable apartments and commercial space located near a Metro-North train station in Westchester. The upcoming development, called The St. Clair, will be located in downtown Yonkers and will include 76 affordable apartments when it is completed, New York Gov. Construction has begun on a new affordable housing complex in Northern Westchester with 82 energy-efficient apartments. According to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, work on the $51 million dollar development in downtown Peekskill at 645 Main Street began on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Lifelong Westchester Residents Welcome Apartments At Reader's Digest
Ginny Enright, 85, has lived in Chappaqua for the past 54 years. Now, Enright is one of the first residents of Chappaqua Crossing Apartments. Her friend of over 50 years just moved in, too. "I was ready to sell my house and not have the responsibilities and it seemed ideal to be able to come here, where I would be in the same town and be able to use the same facilities as I had been using," said Enright, who works at the Chappaqua Public Library.
