Risk Of Kidnappings, Violent Crime Prompts US State Department To Issue Mexico Travel Advisory
A new travel advisory has been issued for Americans who may be planning on heading to Mexico, warning them of "violent crime and kidnapping.”
The US State Department advisory comes after incidents of vandalism, looting, and other crimes in the northern part of the Mexican state of Baja California, including the city of Tijuana, along the southern-most border of California.

Hundreds in Westchester woke up without water as a main break caused trouble for city employees as they worked to make repairs overnight.
The Yonkers Department of Public Works was forced to perform an emergency water shutdown late on Monday, Aug. 16, heading into Tuesday, Aug. 17, due to a main break that impacted certain city neighborhoods.
Officials said that as a result, the west side of Central Park Avenue from Palmer Avenue North to Stokes Road, Arlington Street, Winchester Avenue, Burbank Street, Wainwright Street, and Ravenswood Road were temporarily left without water.

A severe thunderstorm caused heavy damage to a Hudson Valley village as whipping winds sent trees flying, downed utility lines, and left thousands without power.
On Wednesday, June 30, at approximately 7 p.m., the powerful storm tore through Dutchess County, with Wappingers Falls among the hardest-hit areas, with thousands reporting outages as utility poles and lines were toppled.

Two Racehorses Found Dead After Fire Breaks Out At Belmont Stables
A pair of racehorses died and three men were injured when a fire broke out in a barn on the backstretch of Belmont Park, officials announced.
First responders were dispatched to the track at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 when there was a fire reported inside the stables at the track on Hempstead Turnpike.
In total, 58 of the 60 horses under the care of trainers Wayne Potts and Jeffrey Englehart were safely evacuated, according to the New York Racing Association (NYRA), though two died in the fire.
