Mary Swanson, 97, Of West Nyack WEST NYACK, N.Y. – Mary Swanson, of West Nyack, died on May 22. She was 97. Swanson was born on Sept. 3, 1918 to Stefano and Rose Fazio in New York City. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Road in West Nyack. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.

He graduated from Nanuet High School and enlisted in the Navy. He served on the USS Bainbridge in the Pacific and later worked for Pfizer as a steam operator in the company's electric plant. Pelham Library Launches Chinese-English Story Time PELHAM, N.Y. – The Pelham Library will start a biweekly Chinese-English version of its Story Time events on Saturday, June 18. Organized by bilingual local parents, each Saturday session will start at 10:30 a.m. in the library's Activity Room. Chinese picture books will be discussed, while children's songs and other language and cultural activities are planned. Man Saved After Jeep Falls Down Embankment On Mount Beacon FISHKILL, N.Y. – Multiple agencies chipped in to rescue a construction worker whose Jeep had fallen down an embankment and turned over on Mount Beacon Friday morning, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The man's Jeep fell about 65 feet into a creek and a coworker driving behind him alerted authorities, the Journal said. Rescuing the man, who was  taken to St. Luke's-Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh with neck-and-back injuries, was a joint effort between Beacon and Fishkill first responders and State Park Police, reported the Journal.
