Boyfriend Charged With Assaulting Girlfriend In Route 59 Incident RAMAPO, N.Y. – Ramapo police charged a man with assault after an incident on Route 59 in Monsey yesterday morning around 8 a.m. Officers received a report of someone screaming for help in the area of an old drive-in theater on Route 59, and quickly located a female victim who reported an assault by her boyfriend in the wooded area behind the drive-in. The suspect was found in the surrounding area, and was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault and criminal contempt. Ramapo Police Deal With Multiple Car Accidents RAMAPO, N.Y. – Ramapo police dealt with 12 vehicle accidents and other incidents on Friday. The accidents took place on Buena Vista Avenue, Locust Street, East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest (two), College Road, Fred Eller Drive, Route 59 (two), Wiener Drive and Old Nyack Turnpike in Monsey, and two more on Route 59 in Airmont and Montebello. No one was hurt. In total, there were 148 calls for service, including nine medical emergencies, 18 alarm activations, seven fire calls, and two arrests for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and a bench warrant.

Two Sentenced In Murder Of Westchester Philharmonic Violinist Mary Whitaker Two men were sentenced for the murder of Westchester Philharmonic violinist Mary Whitaker this week, according to multiple reports. Jonathan Conklin will serve 25 years and his accomplice Charles Sanford 15 years in state prison for the August 2014 murder of Whitaker during an attempted robbery at her Western New York home. Conklin and Sanford pleaded guilty to both federal and state charges in January. Other federal charges included carjacking.
