Antoinette (Rit) Tanner, 96, Suffern Resident SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Antoinette (Rit) Tanner of Suffern died Sunday, Dec. 13. She was 96. Tanner was born in October 1919 in Tuxedo. In 1939, she graduated as a registered nurse from St. Michael's School of Nursing in Newark, N.J. She worked at Tuxedo Memorial Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for seven decades. Westchester Pursues Discount Hotel Sites Underpayment Of Taxes WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Westchester County officials claim that hotel booking sites underpaid a 3 percent booking rate tax, according to a lohud.com article Popular online hotel booking sites like Hotels.com and Expedia acquired blocks of rooms at a low price and sold them on their sites at a much higher rate, but paid taxes on the lower rate, according to lohud.com. The county has hired a New York City law firm to look into litigation to recoup any possible losses. The county has no idea of how much money could potentially be involved, lohud.com said. Franklin Lakes Special Needs Housing Project Approved FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J.-- A 40-unit special needs housing project is slated to begin construction in the spring. After years of delays, a special needs housing unit has the approval to begin construction of housing for people with specific disabilities. The building will be built on McCoy Road in Franklin Lakes, and should take 12 months to complete. Borough officials acquired the property, which consists of nearly 14 acres at the corner of McCoy Road and Colonial Road, in August 2013 for $2 million from the borough's Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
