Total Solar Eclipse NY Travel Advisory: Arrive Early, Plan On Staying Late, Hochul Says
In preparation for a high volume of traffic and visitors for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is advising travelers to arrive to their destinations early and plan on staying late.
In addition, Hochul said on Sunday, April 7, travelers should allow for extra time, monitor the weather forecast before getting on the road, and pack plenty of water and snacks for the trip.
Additionally, drivers should never pull over on the side of the road to view the eclipse to ensure first responders can get by in an emergency.

NY Move Over Law To Expand, Include All Stopped Vehicles
In an attempt to make driving safer for all New Yorkers, Gov. Kathy Hochul reminded drivers that the Move Over Law would be expanded by the end of March 2024.
Starting Wednesday, March 27, New York’s Move Over Law, which was originally adopted to prevent collisions with emergency vehicles, will be expanded to include all vehicles stopped on highways, Hochul announced.
“The safety of all New Yorkers is my top priority, especially those pulled over to the side of the road,” she said.

Double Fatal Head-On Crash: 24-Year-Old From Region One Of Victims

State police are seeking witnesses to a double fatal crash that killed an area man.
The crash took place in Sullivan County, around 3:45 p.m., Monday, March 27, near Liberty on Route 97, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Audi A4, driven by James Card, age 34, from Beach Lake, Pennsylvania was traveling southbound when it was involved in a head-on collision with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound, driven by Sullivan County resident Edward Sykes, age 24, from North Branch, a hamlet of Callicoon.

First Widespread Snow Of Season Arriving In Region
The region's first blast of winter arrives Tuesday night, according to forecasters.
A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect for much of the area, including Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Saratoga counties, from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16.
One to three inches of snow is expected for most locations, while higher elevations could see three to six inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.

ID Released For Town Employee Hit, Killed By Vehicle In Hudson Valley, Police Say
The identity of a town worker hit and killed by a vehicle in Northern Westchester has been released by officials.
Jake Arcara, age 28, was killed in Yorktown around 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the area of 477 London Road.
Arcara, of Yorktown, was working on a drainage project on London Road with fellow employees when he was struck by the vehicle operated by an 88-year-old local resident, town officials said.
Arcara later died from his injuries, Yorktown Police said.

Man Enters Manslaughter Plea For Crash That Killed Hudson Valley Man
A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the connection with a crash that killed a man in Sullivan County.
James Greco, age 52, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, pled guilty on Wednesday, May 11, to felony vehicular manslaughter, said Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan.
According to Galligan, Greco was driving a pickup truck on Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg on Friday, May 21, 2021, with oxycodone and fentanyl in his system, crossing a double yellow line and crashing into a vehicle driven by Jose Daniel Roldan-Roldan, age 29, of Spring Valley.
