Armed Teen Apprehended In Area For Carjacking ID'd Police have identified one of two men involved in an alleged armed carjacking of a taxi driver in Westchester County who was apprehended in Cortlandt. The incident took place around 3:13 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, when the Yonkers Police Department responded to the area of Elm Street and Walnut Street on a report of a robbery, said Yonkers Police Det. Nicholas Polao, of Cortlandt Manor, was struck at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 on I-87 in Clarkstown. He was treated for his injuries and pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center the following day. Man Admits To Shooting, Killing Private Carting Worker From Area A 33-year-old man will face life in prison after admitting to murdering a truck driver from Northern Westchester last year. Yonkers resident Heriberto Morales pleaded guilty to murdering Timothy Conkling, a driver for a private carting company who was stepping out of his truck when he was shot in March 2018. Morales pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. As part of the plea, Morales was promised terms of 19 years to life in prison for the murder charge and 16 years to life on the weapons charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 14. …
