Dangerous Winds, Downed Trees Knock Out Power To Thousands A powerful storm system bringing strong winds with numerous downed trees, hail and lightning, interrupted electric service to more than 72,000 customers of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. on Tuesday. Wind gusts up to 78 miles per hour were reported in southern Dutchess County, hail fell in portions of Ulster County and approximately 1,000 lightning strikes per hour were recorded in the region during the height of the storm. Central Hudson Power Outages Down To Less Than 2.5K Central Hudson Gas & Electric is reporting that nearly 95 percent of customers impacted by Wednesday’s winter storm, currently have power as crews continue to repair damage throughout the Hudson Valley. In real numbers that means more than 67,000 power outages have been restored, and as of 7:00 a.m. Friday, less than 2,500 customers remain without service, primarily in Orange County.  In addition, about 200 individual damage locations remain, and it is expected that electric service will be restored to virtually all customers by Friday night.  Customers currently without power and who …
