Undercover agents busted a man from the region who admitted he tried to meet a 12-year-old for sex. Michael Robbins, age 27, of Schenectady, pleaded guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in federal court in Albany on Monday, Feb. 13. According to the US Attorney’s Office in the Northern District, Robbins admitted that between February and March 2021, he exchanged sexually explicit messages online with who he believed was a 12-year-old girl. A man from the region who attempted to sexually abuse an underage minor will spend years in federal prison. Green County resident Thomas “Tommy” Squires, age 37, of Cairo, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars Tuesday, Oct. 25, in federal court in Albany. A New York man who filmed himself sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl and sent child pornography to minors is heading to prison, thanks in part to the bravery of a Connecticut teenager. A Capital District man who admitted to keeping child pornography in a computer folder labeled “jailbait” is heading to federal prison. Albany resident Christopher Pratt, age 58, was sentenced to 12 years behind bars Tuesday, July 26, in federal court in Albany. It followed his prior guilty plea to charges of receiving and distributing child pornography. A 26-year-old Capital District man who prosecutors say wanted to impregnate a 13-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to federal charges. Rensselaer County resident Brian Botsford, of Troy, appeared in federal court in Albany Monday, July 18, where he formally admitted that he attempted to coerce and entice the teen into engaging in sexual acts with him. A former New York State employee is facing serious prison time after he was allegedly found with sexually explicit images of children. Albany County resident Scott Weinbloom, age 47, of Latham, was arrested Friday, May 20, on a federal charge of possessing child pornography, according to the US Attorney’s Office in the North District.
