A cashier is behind bars after stealing nearly $10,000 from the gas station she worked in Dutchess, state police from the Rhinebeck barracks said.

Over several months, Tivoli resident Patricia R. Kennedy stole approximately $8,465 in from the ATM machine at the Mobil Gas Station on Route 9 and Route 9G in Rhinebeck, as well as money from the registers during the course of business, according to state police.

Kennedy, who was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony, was arraigned before the Town of Rhinebeck Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Kennedy is next scheduled to appear before the Town of Rhinebeck Justice Court on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
