A registered "predicate" sex offender convicted of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl has reported a move into Dutchess County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 37-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, who has moved to a residence on Crum Elbow Road in Hyde Park.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Johnson as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a predicate sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Johnson had sexual contact with his 11-year-old victim - who was known to him - in August 2011. He was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse with a person less than 14 years old in November that year and sentenced to a term of one year in jail. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Hyde Park Town Police Department.

Further info on Johnson from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services can be accessed after entering the code in the CAPTCHA box found by clicking here.
