“This is an incredible opportunity for homeowners wishing to participate in clean energy; assistance throughout the process, trusted installers and a 10 percent discount off market pricing," said Town of Red Hook Supervisor Robert McKeon. "It’s a great time to go solar."

Property owners can receive a discount of at least 10 percent on signed contracts for solar installations.

"I am very proud and excited to be part of this initiative," said Town of Rhinebeck Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia. "Local government and dedicated volunteers working together to make solar energy installation accessible and easy for our residents," she said.

The Solarize Northern Dutchess educational campaign is focused on Red Hook, Milan, Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and Pleasant Valley and the villages of Red Hook and Tivoli. Community volunteers will seek out interested residents to participate.

The initiative's goal is 100 solar contracts for the region.

“Here in the Village of Red Hook we’ve made it easier for homeowners to get solar panels installed with a streamlined Unified Solar Permit process,” said Red Hook Mayor Ed Blundell. “We’re excited that now our residents can now follow the solar pathway with trusted contractors and a strong program by working with Solarize Northern Dutchess.”

Businesses and residents who sign up for site assessments by June 30 can receive group rates below market prices.

The initiative doubles the NY-Sun program initiatives for households earning less than 80 percent of the county's median income and lowers the total upfront cost for installation.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority under Governor Cuomo's NY-Sun Initiative supports Solarize Northern Dutchess.

NY-Sun aims to expand installations across New York with up to $1 billion invested in solar power through 2023.
