Long Section Of Busy Roadway To Close For Week In Hudson Valley
A long section of a major US route in Northern Westchester will soon close for a little more than a week, leaving travelers with no option but to take a detour. Beginning on Thursday, March 16, the section of US Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) between State Route 9D and US Route 9 in Cortlandt will close on weekdays in both directions between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Large House Fire Closes Roadway, Causes Detours In Rockland County
A large house fire in Rockland County has closed a roadway and is causing detours for motorists. The fire started a short time before 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at 418 Christian Herald Road, in Valley Cottage, said the Clarkstown Police. Multiple police, fire, and EMS are on the scene. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area due to the road closure which includes Christian Herald Road in the area of Storms Road and Rt 9W. Bicyclist Not Wearing Helmet Injured In Crash With Car In Rockland, Police Say
A bicyclist not wearing a helmet was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Rockland County, closing down a busy roadway. Police and paramedics from Ramapo responded to Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg near the intersection of Liberty Rock Road early on Thursday, Aug. 20, when a driver from Sloatsburg struck a bicyclist, police said. Shopping Plaza Fire Closes Section Of Route 59 In Rockland
A fire at a Rockland County plaza has closed a section of Route 59 in both directions. The fire started around 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, at the Thruway Plaza on Route 59, in Nanuet, officials said. Hundreds were left without power after a tractor-trailer struck three utility poles and felled multiple power lines in Orange County, officials said. A spokesperson from Orange & Rockland Utilities said that shortly before 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, a truck driver on Long Meadow Road near Route 17A in Tuxedo took down the poles and a transformer, leaving approximately 600 area residents without power. Two suspects in an allegedly stolen car took police on a wild chase on, off and across I-287 in Westchester. Westchester County Police investigators at the Real Time Crime Center alerted officers on patrol at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, of an allegedly stolen Honda CRV that was trailing on the Hutchinson River Parkway near Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. Fallen Trees Force Major Route 9 Closure In Westchester
Wind damaged trees falling across Route 9 has necessitated a major north-south road closing late Monday afternoon, Feb. 25. As of just before 4:30 p.m., Route 9 is closed from the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery’s main entrance to the Phelps Memorial Hospital entrance. The closing is for an estimated four hours to enable tree crews and local DPW workers to inspect additional trees and to clear the current damage, Briarcliff Manor Village Manager Philip E. Gas Line Struck, Causing Route 59 Closure
Contractors struck a natural gas line on Route 59 in Monsey, causing part of the roadway to be closed to traffic, according to Ramapo Police. The incident took place around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in front of 156 Route 59, police said. The road is closed from Augusta Avenue to Remsen Avenue with a detour set-up to guide drivers.
