New Rochelle's Monroe College Touts Men's Basketball Program

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Monroe College men's basketball program has released a new recruiting video featuring a who's who of the program's past star players.

"Mustang Legends" stars Djim Bandoumel, Orlando Sanchez, Tyrone Nared, Ryan Williams (Special FX), Maurice Ndour, Ricky Johns and Dana Warner, who each went on from the two-year New Rochelle college to NCAA four-year college basketball and professional careers.

"We have one of the nation's best basketball programs here at Monroe," said Director of Sports Information and Development Gary Axelbank, who produced the six-minute video along with videographer extraordinaire Walter Gar. "It was pretty exciting to talk on Skype with players like Djim and Ty, (who now play professional basketball). And as they make clear on the video, it was their experience as Mustangs that made it all possible" Monroe men's basketball coach Jeff Brustad said the program has become a foundation for many great players.

"Monroe is not just a team, it's a program, it's an experience," Bristad said about the former stars. "Your commitment to Monroe College will last a lifetime because these friendships, these bonds, these people that worked for you here, continue to work for you even after you're gone.  So accepting and becoming a Monroe basketball player is a lifetime decision that can change your life."

The video is linked on the home page of the Monroe Mustangs website.
