NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Iona College alumni and friends raised more than $1.2M in celebration of Iona’s 75th anniversary at the annual reunion weekend Friday, May 15 through Saturday, May 16.

Graduating years ending in 5’s and 0’s were honored by more than 500 alumni and friends who attended the two-day event. Weekend highlights included a Golden Gaels luncheon for alumni who graduated 50+ years ago, a presentation of the Iona Forever campaign, heritage-trail tours of campus, a barbecue and Reunion Mass.

Jubilarians, alumni celebrating their 50th reunion, participated in the procession of the Friday evening Baccalaureate Mass followed by the Jubilarian Dinner. The weekend concluded with the annual Reunion Gala at Beckwith Pointe on New Rochelle’s Sound Shore.

The reunion gala paid tribute to seven alumni for service and achievement: Bartley F. Livolsi  and Stephen V. Reitano, The Brother William B. Cornelia Award for Outstanding Service to Iona College, Monica L. Judge, The Brother Patrick B. Doyle Award for Distinguished Service to the Alumni Association, Patrick Quinn, The Brother John G. Driscoll Award for Humanitarian Service and, for the Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award for Outstanding Achievement, Domenick Ciaccia Alfred F. Kelly Jr., and Angela A. Pearson.

“We are so proud of our alumni award recipients for your professional accomplishments, commitment to service and humanitarianism,” said Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president for Advancement & External Affairs and emcee for the Gala.

The class of 1965 had the highest class participation and most money raised towards its reunion gift.  The class of 1990, celebrating its 25th anniversary, were recognized with 25 year medals.  The class of 1975 celebrated its 40th reunion with one of the largest groups in attendance. All gifts received through June 30, 2015 will count in the final reunion totals for alumni in the 5’s and 0’s reunion classes.

Some notable reunion accomplishments from younger alumni included the class of 2005, which doubled its donors from last year and achieved their Reunion fundraising goal.
