The event, created to provide professional development support to Catholic educators, was attended by more than 550 teachers and administrators from 35 high schools across the archdiocese.
“We are proud to have played such an integral part in this important event, which is so aligned with our mission of reaching out and supporting the community," said Dorothy Escribano, the college's provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. "This event was particularly rewarding because it offered our staff an opportunity to share learning and knowledge in their areas of expertise and interact directly with the Catholic educational community.”
This year’s 54 workshops were designed to help teachers improve instruction and provide administrators and department chairs with new insights into teacher supervision.
Workshops led by faculty of The College of New Rochelle included: "Challenges Facing Teachers and Administrators: A Holistic Approach" by Walter Sullivan; "Creating an Information Literacy Course, from Concept to Syllabus to Success" by Ana Fontoura and Kathleen Mannino; and "Independence and Self-Advocacy" by Elaine White and Tiffani Blake.
