John J. Imperioli, 78, Retired Captain, New Rochelle Fire Department

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - John J. Imperioli, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died Dec. 13. He was 78.

Imperioli was born June 12, 1936, in New Rochelle, to John, Sr. and Angelina (Gianotti) Imperioli. He was a retired captain for the New Rochelle Fire Department, having worked for more than 30 years. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Mamaroneck.

Imperioli is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, JoAnn (Gus) Astorino; brother, Louis (Barbara) Imperioli; sister, Linda (Tom) Grimaldi; sister-in-law, Madeline (Elaine) Imperioli; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, James; sister, Mary Anne Bocek; and brother, Sisto (Ted) Imperioli.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Holy Name Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Society or Holy Name Church.
