New Rochelle Students Battle Their Bots At Robotics Competition

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Middle and high school students from Katonah, New Rochelle, the Bronx and Queens will descend on New Rochelle on Saturday for BEST Inc.’s third annual Open Robotic Tournament.

The event will be from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. BEST Inc. at 71 Lincoln Ave.

Competing schools include The Harvey School in Katonah, BEST Inc. in New Rochelle, St. Catherine Academy in The Bronx and Thomas Edison High School in Jamaica and more to come 

More than 16 teams will come together for a day of competition where they will battle against each other with robots created from VEX EDR. Participants will square off in the game VEX Robotics Competition Nothing But Net, which is played by scoring colored balls in high and low goals as well as by elevating robots in a designated climbing zone. 

VEX Robotics Competition Nothing But Net was developed by VEX Robotics Inc. and the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation. 

The tournament is one in a series of supported by the REC Foundation and various national, regional and local sponsors. The competition season culminates each spring, with the top-performing teams from local and state VEX Robotics Competitions vying against each other at VEX Worlds.
