Change Your Luck - Adopt A Pet In New Rochelle On 'Black Cat Day'

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.-- The New Rochelle Humane Society will celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Week starting Saturday.

The celebration will include 50 percent off adoption fees for black and black and white cats.

Cats that are eligible for the special must be four months or older,  already spayed or neutered, or have been at the shelter for four months or longer.

There will be face painting, baked goods and a raffle for a basket full of lottery scratch-offs Saturday. Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The New Rochelle Humane Society was founded in 1911 and serves 19 communities including, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Eastchester, Elmsford, Greenburgh, Harrison, Hartsdale, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Larchmont, Town of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck Village, New Rochelle, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale and Tarrytown. The shelter rescues more than 500 dogs and 900 cats every year.
