NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Following the unprecedented success of the Next Level Camp for Girls in New Rochelle last summer, founder Ed Metzendorf has announced a second camp - this one for boys - that will be held in White Plains this summer.
In its inaugural year at the Ursuline School , the Next Level Camp for Girls concentrated on introducing campers to “weekly, skill-based camps that inspired girls of all abilities and interests,” focusing on sports, arts, STEM education and leadership.
Beginning this summer, Metzendorf announced that he will be introducing the same concept for their male counterparts when the Next Level Camp for Boys opens at Archbishop Stepinac High School. The camp will allow for full or half-day sessions each week from June 27 through Aug. 5. The camp will be open to boys in grades one through nine.
This year, Next Level camps will be teaming with My Remarkable Self to teach leadership and life skills that help make children socially, academically and emotionally successful early on.
According to Metzendorf, he was “inspired to create gender-specific day camps that would empower children, while meeting the scheduling needs of today’s busy families.”
“At Next Level Camps, it’s easy for campers to come for a week or more, leave for a vacation and come back to camp for one or more weeks,” Metzendorf said. “We customize campers’ schedules to meet their interests and needs, our our single-gender camps allow for children to develop self-confidence.”
Metzendorf said that campers at Next Level will have elective choices such as cross fit, magic, fencing, gag, martial arts and radio broadcasting. Campers will get a behind the scene tour at WVOX to learn about radio production and each week will include traditional camp-wide color wars and special events like “Try it Tuesday,” “Wild and Wacky Challenges” and “Halloween Spooktacular.”
“Our camp counselors are well-trained teachers, parents and collegiate and high school coaches and athletes who are excellent role models,” he added. “They encourage campers of all abilities to explore their interests in a safe environment, with primary emphasis on sportsmanship and skills, playing with pride and playing for fun.
“Our goal is to ensure that each camper has an unforgettable summer camp experience. At Next Level Camps, children learn, commit and achieve.’
