Woman Struck, Killed While Crossing Sunrise Highway In Lynbrook

A woman has been killed after she was hit by a car on a busy Long Island highway.

A 71-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a luxury car while crossing Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, police said.

According to Nassau County Police, the Lynbrook incident happened on Sunday, Feb. 25.

The victim, a 71-year-old woman, was walking northbound on Broadway at around 7 p.m. She was crossing Sunrise Highway (Route 27) when she was hit by a 2019 Cadillac XT5.

The woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Her identity has not yet been released.

Police said the 54-year-old Cadillac driver, also not named, remained at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
