Wind gusts will be as high as 30 miles per hour Saturday morning, Feb. 25 on a day in which the high temperature will be right around the freezing mark, but with wind-chill values in the teens, the National Weather Service says. Power Outages Now Being Reported On Long Island As Wintry Storm Sweeps Through A storm bringing a mix of freezing rain and sleet has already left some Long Island residents without power with the worst of the wintry weather expected to hit later as the temperature plummets in the afternoon. As of around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, PSEG Long Island was reporting 22 active outages that were impacting 199 of its 1.17 million customers in Suffolk and Nassau counties. In Nassau, there were 84 outages reported in North Hempstead, with 37 in Hempstead and less than five in Oyster Bay.
