Person Dies After Pickup Truck Bursts Into Flames On Long Island An investigation is underway surrounding the circumstances of a person's death during a vehicle fire on Long Island overnight. Suffolk County Police officers responded to the blaze in East Setauket on Friday, Aug.18 at around 11:10 p.m. on the north shoulder, west of 445 Route 25A. The Setauket Fire Department extinguished the fire and a body was discovered inside the 2004 Dodge pickup. It happened just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Nassau County. An occupied 1999 Ford Explorer was stopped in the westbound HOV lane at Exit 48 in Plainview when the vehicle's rear was struck by a 2018 Kia Sportage travelling in the same direction, Nassau County Police said.  Upon impact the 1999 Ford Explorer caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, said police. Bryant Castro, age 30, of Brentwood, was driving a 2018 Cadillac westbound on Delaware Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle struck a fire hydrant and a tree in front of 138 Delaware Ave., Suffolk County Police said.
