‘A True Gentleman’: Retired Nysp Trooper Dies At Age 61 From 9/11-Related Illness
Decades after he helped search for survivors buried in the rubble of the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a retired New York State Police trooper has died.
Patrick Hogan, of North Greenbush in Rensselaer County, died Thursday, April 13, at the age of 61 from an illness stemming from his time at what became known as Ground Zero, according to State Police.
The New York State Troopers PBA, which represents nearly 6,000 retired and active members of the New York State Police, said Hogan’s death will be considered a “line-of-duty death.”

Long Island Native Who Owned Sporting Goods Stores In NY Dies
A former councilman of a town in Northern Westchester who owned several stores in the area has died.
Joseph Albanese, who lived in Chappaqua and raised his family there, died on Sunday, Jan. 8 at the age of 90, according to his obituary.
Born in Bay Shore, Long Island in 1932, Albanese graduated from Yale University in 1954 and was a track and field letterman. He also served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1959, and after graduating from Yale, spent two years in Yokosuka, Japan, and in the Korean War.

Covid-19: Nurses From Nassau, Queens Indicted For Vax Card Fraud Scheme
A Long Island nurse and member of the US Marine Corps have been indicted for their roles in an alleged COVID-19 vaccination card fraud scheme, federal authorities announced.
An indictment was unsealed on Thursday, Feb. 17 charging Queens resident Jia Liu, age 26, a member of the US Marine Corps Reserve, and Nassau County resident Steven Rodriguez, age 27, of Long Beach, a nurse at a clinic in Hempstead, for their roles in the scheme.
