Cat Found Shot On Long Island An animal welfare organization is asking the public for information after a cat was shot and found suffering from serious injuries on Long Island.  The cat was discovered in the area of Southfields Road and West Lane in Aquebogue on Monday, Oct. 11, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The cat, named Abraham by rescuers, was taken to an animal rescue hospital, where it was discovered that he was shot and had a pellet lodged in his spine. Cow Now: Long Island Animal Rescuers Hope New Method Will Help Lure Bull On Lose Police on Long Island have handed over the reins to several animal rescue groups in the search for a 1,500-pound bull that escaped from a farm earlier in the week. Suffolk County Police said the bull was last seen in a nature preserve on the evening of Tuesday, July 20. Authorities said the bull broke through a fence on a farm in Manorville earlier that day. 250-Pound Buck Rescued After Being Caught In Netting On Long Island The phrase “the buck stops here” took a very real turn for some animal rescue workers on Long Island. Members of the Strong Island Animal Rescue League came to the aid of a massive 250-pound buck who got caught in a batting cage net in a Port Jefferson backyard late on Friday, Dec. 11. Armed with only flashlights, rescuers found the buck entangled in the net, thrashing about as they attempted to assess the situation, even knocking a woman to the ground with ease in the process.
