Woman Struck, Killed By SUV On Long Island A local woman was struck and killed by an SUV while crossing a Long Island roadway. The crash took place around 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, in Corman on North Bicycle Path, said the Suffolk County Police. The victim, identified as Merlin Elizabeth Martinez, was struck by Mark Daniels, driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound on North Bicycle Path, while walking east across the street, police said. Raging Fire Breaks Out At Long Island Funeral Home A Long Island funeral home was destroyed during a raging fire overnight. The fire started just before 11 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, in Suffolk County at the Giove Funeral Home located on Route 25 in Selden, said the Selden Fire Department. A family who lives above the funeral home was awakened by its two dogs who were barking frantically. The family then found smoke and fire in the apartment and was able to escape without injury, the department said. Employees of the funeral home had just left and came back to remove the one funeral casket to a safe location in the rear of the building.  …

ID Released For Long Island Cemetery Worker Killed In Accident Police detectives investigating the death of a cemetery employee who was killed while working in a grave have released the victim's identity. Rodwin Allicock, age 42, of Coram, was at the bottom of a grave, which was more than 7 feet deep when the incident happened at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai when the grave collapsed at approximately 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, said the Suffolk County Police.
