Drunk Long Island Woman Involved In Crash Had Two Kids In Car, Police Say
A Long Island woman has been charged under Leandra’s Law after her involvement in a crash with two children in the vehicle, police say. Suffolk County Police say Heather Sload, 40, of Middle Island was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry westbound on Route 25 in Coram when she crashed into a tree on Thursday, Nov. 21 around 12:20 p.m. Two children in the vehicle, an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released to the custody of a family member, police say.
