Drawbridge Replacement Will Close Loop Parkway Transportation officials have announced a new set of closures for a parkway on Long Island. Starting Friday, Oct. 20, the Loop Parkway in Hempstead will be closed overnight, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. The closure, which will last from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 weather permitting, will facilitate an ongoing project to replace the steel deck on the drawbridge over Long Creek. Closures, New Traffic Patterns Announced For Meadowbrook State Parkway Transportation officials have declared a new set of closures — plus a new traffic pattern — for this parkway on Long Island. From Monday, Sept. 25 to Friday, Sept. 29, both directions of the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead will be closed from the Loop Parkway (Exit M10) and the Bay Parkway.  According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the closures will be weather permitting and last from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day. Months-Long Lane Closures Scheduled On Southern State Parkway In Oyster Bay, Hempstead There will be months-long lane closures on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island as contracting crews continue working on a pavement resurfacing project. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising that there will be upcoming closures on weeknights on the parkway between Exit 32 (State Route 110) and Exit 27 (Wantagh State Parkway) in the Towns of Oyster Bay and Hempstead.
