Driver Ejected From Vehicle In Northern State Parkway Crash In Oyster Bay A driver suffered serious injuries in an early morning crash on Long Island. It happened around 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 in Oyster Bay on the Northern State Parkway. A vehicle traveling eastbound near Exit 35 struck the center median, causing the vehicle to overturn, and ejecting the driver, according to New York State Police. The driver was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for a head injury and is in serious condition. The roadway was closed for almost two hours, but all lanes have reopened. From Monday, Oct. 2 to Friday, Oct. 6, the right lane of the ramp on the northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway to the westbound Northern State Parkway will be closed, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. The closures, which are weather permitting, will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are meant to facilitate a safety enhancement project. It happened around 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 10 on the Northern State Parkway eastbound in the area of Exit 29 in the town of North Hempstead. The driver, Erik Jimenez-Villeda, age 23, of Freeport, was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna when it left the roadway onto the right shoulder and went down an embankment, striking a tree, and causing the minivan to overturn, New York State Police said.  Jimenez-Villeda was pronounced dead at the scene. Carle Place Man Killed In Fiery Crash A Long Island man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a highway overpass, authorities said. The crash happened around 3:15 a.m., Friday, Dec. 10, on the Northern State Parkway, in North Hempstead, said the New York State Police. According to police, the body of a Latino male was found by a passerby on the right shoulder of the Northern State Parkway eastbound in the town of Hempstead at approximately 11:33 p.m. on March 1, 1992.  The body, which had been shot multiple times, was about 25 feet off the roadway, about 1/10 of a mile west of New Hyde Park Road.  Police identified 28-year-old Edgar Humberto Quiroz of Queens as the victim.
