Man Crossing Long Island Intersection Struck, Killed By SUV A man crossing an intersection was killed after being struck by an SUV on Long Island. It happened on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6:10 p.m. in Lindenhurst. Jacek Rogowski, 42, of Lindenhurst, was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SUV westbound on East John Street when his vehicle struck a male pedestrian crossing the street at the intersection of North Indiana Ave., Suffolk County Police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
